The best time to launch your digital marketing strategy

My friend Beth and I were bonding recently over our shared Zoom fatigue. Yes, it’s a thing. This was on a Thursday, and I announced how excited I was that the following day was Friday and I only had one call on the calendar.

“And it’s a phone call, not a Zoom!”

We high-fived, then proceeded to confess some of our most awkward and embarrassing Zoom moments.

Mine are typically the result of my French Bulldog, Truman, suddenly deciding he no longer has legs and cannot get on the couch unassisted. Quiet whimpering, turns into howling that eventually progresses into full blown wailing. This does not stop until I can find a break in the conversation to leave the call, pick him up and deposit him on the sofa.

Beth’s generally involved various levels of oversharing. Like that time she announced to her team on a 4pm Zoom call that she was still in her PJs and hadn’t yet brushed her teeth.

“I thought it was hilarious, my team, not so much.”

Oh, well. Timing is everything.

All that to say, before you go one step further with your digital marketing strategy, let's make sure we get your house in order.

Get your digital house in order.

What do I mean?

I think we can all agree, there are a lot of things you could be doing to build your online presence. But before you even think about sending hordes of new visitors to your website with social media, email marketing and paid ads, make sure your online image is something you actually want people to see.

This is your digital home after all.

So, you know, make the bed, run the vacuum, stock the fridge, put some clean towels out, maybe think about picking up some fresh flowers … and brush your teeth.

In other words, make sure your place isn't a hot mess before you start inviting people into it.

Pretend you’re a prospective new client.

Here’s an exercise for you. Pretend for a minute that you’re a prospective new client for your business. Google your business name right now, and see what comes up.

A few questions to ask yourself:

  • When was the last review posted to your Google My Business page (you have a Google My Business page, right!)? Did you respond?

  • How fast does your website load?

  • Are there any broken links?

  • Is it mobile friendly?

  • How consistently are you showing up online and engaging with your audience?

These are just some of the questions we ask with every new ST49 client before we begin to create any kind of visibility, engagement and business growth strategy.

Money spent driving people to see a subpar online presence is money wasted. Create a digital space that people will actually want to stay and hang out for a while!

Upgrade your online presence.
